Brief 2 - Lookbook development

After the meeting with Rebekah, we suggested having a plan in place for the lookbook and having the layout finalised until her clothing is finished and photographed and the images provided. She had the idea of having 3 photographs each showcasing an outfit in 3 different stances. This idea of 3 gave me the idea of having a concertina style format (similar to these). I began experimenting with initial paper mock ups to explain the concept and see what Rebekah thinks.

I used a tall format to correspond with the portrait photography. I started with a simple concertina fold and looked at how this could be incorporated within the publication.

The black stock represents where information could potentially go whereas the white stock = photographs. The size may potentially change according to Rebekah's preference but this explains the general concept. I could have the concertina so the first page they encounter immediately pulls out or conversely have this page behind the first fold. The latter is easier to replace whereas the first is the most obvious reaction when handling the book

I immediately noticed that in order for the concertina inserts to fold out, there needs to be additional space where the fold is at the spine. I will investigate various binding processes that will each have their own limitations so the size between the outer edge and the fold will vary. The amount of concertina pull outs will depend on the amount of outfits Rebekah produces.
