Brief 8 - Email invites

Development of the e-mail invites using the same design aesthetic as the print and web adverts. Due to the lack of photographic imagery, the clients restrictions on a small file size were achievable. The private view invite has subtle changes in type to differentiate this from the general invitation (below).

Brief 7 - Format

Due to the amount of content, I started to look into coptic bind as you are able to open the publication flat — something which I think is useful with publications full of imagery as opposed to text (plus the binding itself looks great).

Helpful tutorial —

Brief 4 - Context - Bremen Teater

Waaitt designed this publication for Bremen Teater — a multi-functional stage venue for comedy stand-ups, theatre production and concerts. The use of one colour creates a stark aesthetic which works brilliantly.

Brief 4 - Context - Folio

I came across this design by Face in Mexico for Folio — a design journal based in Mexico City. Although a newspaper format, the aesthetic is contemporary and perfectly reflects the content of the publication. The layout is clear and consistent and ensures colour photography becomes its primary focus — something which I intend to do within my own publication.

Brief 4 - Programme format

For the programme, I wanted to look at different formats — particularly ones that would be relatively cheap to order on bulk for a one-off event. Although a fictional festival, I want to ensure what I produce would ultimately be feasible to an extent. Newspaper Club has cropped up several times but never had the option to use it within a project. Luke had already some samples which I had a quick look through and it seems like a perfect option for the Reel programme.

Brief 3 - Context - FS Emeric

Believe In were appointed by FontSmith to create a campaign for the launch of FS Emeric by FontSmith. The font itself is characterful and works brilliantly through headers and copy. A type specimen was distributed within the design community and 11 prestigious design studios from across the globe were asked to create a poster design using the font itself. The designs are entirely diverse and unique in their form — something I will use as inspiration for my own type specimen posters and print material.

Brief 2 - Lookbook / Publication formats

Rebekah had the photographs of her garments photographed last week so I will be able to start putting the lookbook publication together as of next week. I have a format set out — that of a concertina style pull out, interspersed with sections detailing the model, make-up artist etc. I want to explore other avenues, however, as opposed to sticking with the one I set out to do. I found these works by Shaz Madani which are each brilliant — such unique and engaging formats.

Brief 0/1/2/7 - Project Projects

A few examples of the brilliant work by Project Projects. For the design context, design a day and my branding briefs, I am producing a publication and therefore contextual research such as this is hugely beneficial. A range of processes, formats, layout, type and so on —
